F-factor Mini Site

posted by josiah

f-factor mini site

A mini site I created to showcase Reef-One’s LIFE aquarium collection. Their aquarium was placed in the X-factor contestant house, which they stocked with fish and snails named after the judges. The judges are animated and clickable, to allow fans of the show to catch them and find out more.

Ohio Power Tools Banner Set

posted by josiah

ohiopowertool

Client: Ohio Power Tool

Problem: Ohio Power Tool needed to liven up their static web banners in an cost and time-efficient way.

Solution:  I made use of their existing layout design, but created an intro sequence for each, with new vector versions of the logos.  A little animation in their logo, and some shininess for the tools to attract the eye.

action points

  • high fidelity vector tracing of client raster material
  • intro, logo, lighting animations
  • adaptation, development of concept to fit multiple formats

Cru Promo (student project back from ‘04)

posted by josiah

chris_comparison

Problem: Create a buzz for the social nightlife of a college organization.

Solution: I enlisted the voice talents of a staff member well-known to the students of the organization for his Will Ferrell impersonations, then created a fully-animated, two minute short featuring a character I designed in his likeness. The promotion was kept under wraps until it was presented on a large projection screen in front of several hundred students.

Outcome: Due to the cartoon likeness of the staff member, quirky humor, and many pop-culture references, the promotion not only encouraged participation in the organization’s night life, but contributed to the expectation of exciting and unusual things occuring at their weekly meetings.

Reef One Header

posted by josiah

rf_header2_thumb

Problem: The client desired a very nice-looking header that conveyed the appearance of a video, yet with very low bandwidth requirements.

Solution: To cut down on file size, while retaining a clean, crisp look, I manually traced over their resources with vector art. This included bitmaps as well as video, which I traced over frame by frame.

BiOrb Filtration Product Map

Problem: Reef-One desired a way of illustrating the benefits of their unique filtration technology in a way their customers would readily understand and appreciate.
Solution: As many internet shoppers will not commit to reading technical information for very long in paragraph form, engage customers to explore in a non-linear learning experience with illustration and animation.
